Marine Basic Fire Fighting Course

U.S. Coast Guard-approved Basic Fire Fighting training course designed for mariners seeking STCW certification. This intensive two-day program provides essential firefighting knowledge and hands-on practical training required for commercial maritime operations.
Course Overview:
Meets the requirements of STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) Table A-VI/1-2 for Basic Fire Fighting. This course combines classroom instruction with realistic hands-on firefighting exercises using live fire scenarios. Students will gain the skills and confidence needed to respond effectively to shipboard fire emergencies.

Prerequisites:
• Valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
• Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) or application in process
• Physical ability to wear firefighting gear and SCBA

• At least 18 years of age
• Medical fitness for firefighting training

• Work clothes suitable for physical training
• Change of clothes (you will get wet and dirty)
• Steel-toed boots or sturdy work boots
• Towel and toiletries
• Water bottle
• Notebook and pen for the classroom portion
Important Notes:
• All firefighting gear and equipment provided
• Physical fitness required – training is demanding
• Students must complete both classroom and practical components
• Weather conditions may affect outdoor practical exercises
• Bring prescription glasses if needed (no contact lenses under SCBA)
Certification:
Upon successful completion of both classroom instruction and practical exercises, students will receive:
• STCW Basic Fire Fighting Certificate (valid for 5 years)
• Course completion documentation for USCG records
• Certificate accepted worldwide for STCW compliance
• Documentation for MMC endorsement
