Course Overview:
Meets the requirements of STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) Table A-VI/1-2 for Basic Fire Fighting. This course combines classroom instruction with realistic hands-on firefighting exercises using live fire scenarios. Hands-on training in full firefighting gear, including:

• Hose handling and nozzle techniques

• Team firefighting operations
• Emergency escape procedures
• Rescue operations in zero visibility conditions

Prerequisites:
• Valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
• Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) or application in process

• Medical fitness for firefighting training

• Notebook and pen for the classroom portion

• Physical fitness required – training is demanding
• Students must complete both classroom and practical components
• Weather conditions may affect outdoor practical exercises
• Bring prescription glasses if needed (no contact lenses under SCBA)

Certification:
Upon successful completion of both classroom instruction and practical exercises, students will receive:
• STCW Basic Fire Fighting Certificate (valid for 5 years)
• Course completion documentation for USCG records
• Certificate accepted worldwide for STCW compliance
• Documentation for MMC endorsement

This course involves physically demanding activities, including:
